Distance from the port and high transport costs are forcing farmers in Mato Grosso to add value to their soybean production in order to turn a profit.
One such trend is the increasing production of biodiesel, rising from 15,000 cubic meters in 2007 to 332,000 cubic meters last year and expected to reach 500,000 cubic meters this year.
