As world encourages biofuel, Israel levies tax

While governments around the world are encouraging the use of biofuels as a substitute for oil, the Israeli government has given up on encouraging biofuels in this country's transportation sector. In two weeks it will impose a tax on biodiesel fuels. Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz signed an order yesterday slapping an excise tax of NIS 2.50 per liter on biodiesel, as of August 1.
