Local biodiesel plant looking at new green fuel

A new process for converting waste into synthetic diesel fuel is being given serious consideration by Global Fuels LLC of Dexter which currently produces biodiesel from chicken fat. The new process would produce a high grade of synthetic diesel using waste products such as corn stalks, rice hulls, sawdust wood chips and other wood waste.

Jerry Bagby, owner of Global Fuels, says the the local plant is studying the feasibility of converting the plant to the manufacture of the new "green" fuel. If Global Fuels moves forward on the conversion they would be the first full-scale plant in the world to use the new technology.

(The success of the biodiesel fuel industry relies heavily on biodiesel testing <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s32Ke2VzrqU>, not only at the production level but at the consumer level, where degraded fuel may cause engine failures.  Of major concern to diesel and biodiesel users is the very real possibility that water has contaminated their fuel. (See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YcczdvPyAk).  The potential catastrophic impact of this problem is discussed at length  in this video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lh4qhXc_5s&feature=youtube_gdata.
