DOE funds public biofuel testing center at Berkeley Lab

Funded by an $18 million U.S. DOE Recovery Act grant, the Advanced Biofuels Process Development Unit will provide industry-scale test beds for innovative technologies, and will be available for public use. The first-of-its-kind facility is scheduled to be fully operational by early 2011, and multiple locations in the San Francisco East Bay region are being considered for possible locations.

(The success of the biodiesel fuel industry relies heavily on biodiesel testing <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s32Ke2VzrqU>, not only at the production level but at the consumer level, where degraded fuel may cause engine failures.  Of major concern to diesel and biodiesel users is the very real possibility that water has contaminated their fuel.
